Hello, I am Joshua Hedgecock (Tenzin Samten), the founder of Desert Spiritual Care, a practice devoted to offering compassionate presence and spiritual support to those navigating life’s most difficult and uncertain seasons. With a background in Philosophy and Religious Studies, licensed chaplaincy training, and over 15 years of Buddhist practice, Joshua offers compassionate spiritual care rooted in deep listening, presence, and respect for each person’s unique experience. Raised within both Catholic and Lutheran traditions, he brings an understanding of diverse spiritual paths and the questions that often arise through life’s transitions, grief, illness, and uncertainty.
My approach is centered on deep listening, humility, and respect for each person’s unique path—whether rooted in religion, spirituality, or a search for meaning outside of traditional frameworks. Influenced by Buddhist teachings, I emphasize acceptance, gratitude, and the recognition that struggle is an inherent part of being human.
Rather than trying to fix or direct, I aim to walk alongside others with honesty and care, creating space for reflection, healing, and renewed perspective. I am particularly drawn to supporting those experiencing grief, depression, or a sense of being stuck, offering grounded companionship that honors both the reality of suffering and the possibility of peace within it.
Through Desert Spiritual Care, my intention is simple: to show up fully, listen deeply, and help others reconnect with a sense of meaning, dignity, and quiet resilience.
